Overview: What Is the Traffic Team?

We are the team responsible for maintaining reliable, performant, secure, and cost-efficient network connectivity to and within Temporal Cloud. Our work powers every customer connection. We own all aspects of network traffic management including public, private, and internal connectivity across AWS, GCP, and Azure.

Our mission is to:

• Own network architecture, security, and routing strategy for Temporal Cloud
• Partner with teams to create resilient client configurations and efficient communication protocols
• Provide expert guidance to customers on network topology for highly reliable connectivity
• Continuously improve network reliability, performance, security, and cost-efficiency across multiple cloud vendors
• Enable effective observability of network performance and security

What the Traffic Team Builds

We build and maintain the critical network infrastructure that connects developers to Temporal Cloud. Our work directly impacts every request that flows through the platform.

Key Focus Areas:

🔀 Dynamic Routing & Edge Scalability

We're building a next-generation routing architecture that can scale with us through our next phase of growth. This involves custom Envoy extensions, dynamic upstream resolution, and efficient configuration delivery systems.

🔐 Network Security

We own DDoS protection, rate limiting at the edge, and ensuring all internal services are properly secured.

☁️ Multi-Cloud Traffic Management

We operate traffic infrastructure across three major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, and Azure) - with consistent behavior regardless of provider.
